Leadership

“forget the last arrow. Only the next one counts”

Team Leader – Relay for Life by American Cancer Institute (Jan 2024 to April 2024) (City Level)

  • Relay for Life is a community event that supports the American Cancer Society to help end cancer, honor the survivors, and celebrate the impact we could create.
  • Set up a fundraising page, share the donation requests via various social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Nextdoor, emails, and also in person.
  • Raised $2,393 in donations and another ~$350 in booth games.
  • The team ran 46 rounds of quarter-mile laps (~12 miles) of relay race and collected 46 beads on behalf of the team in 3 hours, with a continuous inflow of volunteers assisting tired runners.
  • It was a wonderful event to learn about cancer, raise awareness, support, and celebrate the cancer survivors.
  • Worked with the elder brother of my team member who is in cancer remission to help him give a speech at the event.

Lead Volunteer at Perot museum of nature and science2024, 2025

I got invited to be a Lead Volunteer by Perot Museum after working with them for 1 year as general volunteer.

Shadowed Don for 2 days and learned the responsibilities and was able to perform 47 hours of Lead volunteering in 2024.

I was trained by their Lifetime Gold star Lead Don who is 80 years old and he expects the Leads to be meticulous in Lead checklists.

Instructions to address the repeated mistakes by the new Leads.

My favourite exhibit is the Bio Lab in Being Human Hall and followed by 3D printing.

Monitor the volunteers, Verify their check ins and Check outs for time tracking and security reasons. Support them at various exhibits to make sure the visitors are engaged and informed.
