Relay for Life

Team Leader – Relay for Life by American Cancer Institute (Jan 2024 to April 2024) (City Level) Relay for Life is a community event that supports American Cancer Society to help end cancer, honor the survivors, and celebrate the impact we could create. Raised $2393 in donations and another ~$350 in booth games.

• Led as the Prosper Archery team booth captain and planned the team booth games, volunteers signups, event day logistics, and identified responsibilities while giving periodical status updates to coaches.
• Set up the fund raising page, shared the donation requests via various social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, Nextdoor, emails, and also in person.
• Team ran 46 rounds of quarter mile laps (~12 miles) during the relay race and collected 46 beads on behalf of the team in 3 hours with continuous inflow of volunteers taking the place of tired runners.
• It was a wonderful event to learn about cancer, raise awareness, and support and celebrate survivors.
• Worked with the elder brother of my teammate who is in remission from leukemia to help him give a speech at the event.
